Octothorpe
House
Octothorpe House is Oregon’s first fully cross-laminated timber (CLT) home. Built on the site of a wildfire from two decades ago, its cedar siding is torched to enhance resilience against fire and rot. The interior is exposed CLT structural panels, requiring absolute precision in milling and assembly.
Designed to embrace its surroundings, the house forms eight courtyards: one fully enclosed at its center and seven open ones along its perimeter, creating seamless connections between indoor and outdoor spaces.

“The layout is inventive and a new way of looking at the space distribution of single-family homes. The material palette moves away from the opulence that has become common in current residential design, which is refreshing. Elegantly detailed.”
